"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind... We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith." -- Margaret D. Nadauld

Philosophy of a 6 Year Old

For the past several months, Inigo has been praying nightly for a younger sibling. It went from, "Please bless that we'll have a baby," to "Please bless that I can have two babies," to "Please bless that I can have 40" all the way to 20,000 and 100,000. (After a FHE lesson on appropriate prayers, he has dropped it back down to a more reasonable number = 2.)
I told him that my tummy probably won't be able to give him a baby and that if we can, we'll try to adopt one. His bestest friend in the world is adopted, so it's a concept he completely understands. Today, he came up to me completely excited. This is what he said:

**********
"Hey mom, I know how to adopt a baby!

First you put a baby in a basket and put a blanket over the face and the whole body and then you put a note on top. Then you put the basket on the door step and ring the doorbell and run to your car and drive away.

Then we open the door and look under the blanket and bring the baby in the house.

And that's how you be adopted!"
********

Well, maybe he doesn't understand it as completely as I thought!

It sounds like you have your hands full. Life is so much easier when concepts are that simple. If only....

Oddly enough, this happened not to long ago in my town. The bishop from the other ward that shares our building woke up to a baby in a basket on his doorstep, no kidding. My thought is that whoever dropped the baby off knew who that guy was and left it on that porch for a purpose. The bishop didn't adopt the baby, however.
